Genesis 6 Attracts Over 4,000 Super Smash Bros. Fans for First Major Tournament of 2019

Oakland, CA – On Feb 1st-3rd, 2019, thousands of video game fans will congregate in Oakland, California to watch the top competitors from around the world compete in Nintendo’s hit series, Super Smash Bros. at an event called Genesis 6.
Genesis, in its 6th iteration, is the largest grassroots, community-run, Super Smash Bros. tournament in the world. It will be one of the first times fans get to see competition-level gameplay from the newest title in the franchise, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch. In addition to the blockbuster Nintendo Switch title, Genesis 6 will feature competitions in Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. 64, Splatoon 2, Rivals of Aether, Slap City, Magical Drop 3, DDR Extreme, and Windjammers. Over 4,000 unique attendees have registered to attend Genesis 6 with over 2,000 competitors registered to compete in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – making it the 3rd most attended tournament of all time behind EVO 2016’s Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament and EVO 2016’s Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U tournament.
The tournament will take place over 3 days. The preliminary rounds (Days 1 and 2) will be held inside the Oakland Convention Center with the Finals showcased from inside the storied Paramount Theatre. Tickets are being sold at the door.
